I started Thorne Counseling and Consulting because of my own journey. Navigating trauma and seeking mental health care as a Black woman showed me just how much representation was missing in this field, and that gap is a big part of why Thorne Counseling & Consulting exists, not just as a therapy practice, but as a place to support individuals, organizations, and clinicians.

My work has always centered on culture, identity, and lived experience. I bring that same lens whether I'm sitting with a client individually, consulting with an organization on how to support their people, or teaching other social workers through our CEU courses. Different rooms, same commitment: care that understands context, not just symptoms.

My own clinical background, including my work with combat veterans and military sexual trauma survivors through the VA, and my education (MSW and a Master's in Education with a concentration in Human Sexuality from Widener University) shapes everything it stands for.

Thorne Counseling and Consulting is growing beyond just me. I'm building a team of clinicians and consultants who share this same commitment to culturally grounded, real care.

Hi, I’m Angelica Thorne.
